My session this year with Lesley and Matt and their adorable boys was at Jeffrey Mansion, the site of their wedding 10 years ago this year! It was fun to wander the grounds with the boys, who were a bundle of energy and so cute and grown up now. I love seeing them yearly and seeing how the boys change from year to year – they’re so much fun, and you can tell Patrick really looks up to Alex and is now his own independent self.
In lieu of Planned Parenthood’s annual Condom Couture event, they held a centennial celebration fundraiser at the Greater Columbus Convention Center downtown, featuring Gloria Steinem as their very special guest.
This is the second time I’ve been chosen by Planned Parenthood to photograph an event with a very famous central figure, the first being President Bill Clinton, and, this week, the feminist icon, Gloria Steinem (who eschews the term “icon”, even though she is!). With women’s healthcare under almost constant assault nationally and locally, her life’s consistent message was more urgent than ever.

When I chatted with Nicole about the combined birthday party for her parents, I knew I wanted to make some great pictures for this lovely family. Friends and family came from near and far – some through a pop-up torrential downpour – in order to shower their loved ones with birthday wishes and warm stories. Everyone gathered at Bleu & Fig in Clintonville, where the food was extraordinary and the venue was lovely and inviting. Have a look.
