Carly and Taylor are engaged!

Few things are as exciting and as emotionally charged as a surprise proposal. Last Saturday, my friend and decoy, Karen, accompanied me to North Bank Park to photograph Taylor as he surprised his girlfriend Carly by asking her to marry him. Unbeknownst to her, their families were hiding behind the building, ready to surprise her again, showering her with love and flowers. Needless to say, she said yes! I’ve photographed a number of these and this one, by far, was the most fun and emotional. Congratulations to Carly and Taylor!

Byron Saunders Foundation – One Meal at a Time

Just prior to Thanksgiving, I met up with my friend Brian, who heads the Byron Saunders Foundation – an organization that works all year to collect food to distribute to needy families so they are assured of having Thanksgiving dinner. This will be the third year I’ve made photographs of their operations – the volunteers a couple days before, sorting and packing boxes; and then the Sunday before when volunteers form a human assembly line to help load up vehicles from local food pantries for distribution to the actual families. We were in a new spot this year – much roomier! – and things flowed smoothly as thousands of pounds of food made its way to those who need it most.
