Megan and Nik

OK, wow. On June 14, Melissa and I made a roadtrip up to Fremont and Port Clinton, Ohio to spend the day photographing Megan and Nik’s beautiful wedding. Despite Friday’s wicked rain storm at just the time we were to arrive at the rehearsal using our ridiculously errant Google map, we made it safe and sound and just in time. Fremont is a quaint little town not too far from Lake Erie and the ceremony took place in what has to be its most beautiful church, Grace Lutheran. First we started at an Aveda concept salon with the girls, then on to the church. Afterwards, we went to the grounds of the Rutherford B. Hayes home and then on to the beach at Camp Perry on Lake Erie for the reception. The images speak for themselves. Have a look.

A gift from Megan’s sister containing a monogrammed hankie and their grandma’s ring.

Megan, explaining to her niece just exactly what an eyelash curler does.

A touching moment where Megan reads a card from Nik.

I love the way they’re looking at each other on their way to presenting the moms with flowers.

At the park, Melissa grabbed this great motion shot of an elderly runner cutting through our party.

In the gazebo at the Rutherford B. Hayes home.

Fun fun fun beach shot. Check out the saturated colors! Those gorgeous hot pink dresses against the brilliant blue sky is just magical!

Sweet.

I LOVE this shot following the cake bites. Hilarious.

Melissa caught this shot of the flower girl. She was so cute despite looking not-so-happy at the moment.

Back to the beach with just Megan and Nik for some phenomenal images made with that beautiful golden light. I just can’t say how much I love these and the fact that Megan and Nik were so into having the images made. Pure joy, all the way around.

A different kind of family group shot. Love it.

Presenting, the bride’s leg!

The reverse garter. No need for words here, really.

Another great shot from Melissa, getting down low with the boogie-ing guests.

Yikes.

One more from Melissa. The line was pretty animated!

Congratulations, Megan and Nik!

Shameless Self-Promotion

If you’re a regular reader, you know I don’t often indulge in shameless self-promotion. That’s not to say that I don’t have great things happen; I’m just not much of a public horn-tooter. But, since this little tidbit is also exciting for one of my fabulous clients, I just had to share.

A while back, I was contacted by the Art Director of Jewish Living Magazine, a really super, beautifully produced publication featuring lots of great stories about modern Jewish life, including explanations of traditions and some yummy recipes. Anyway, the Art Director had googled “ketubah signing” and happened upon my blogged image of Ilana signing the Ketubah at her wedding ceremony back in September 2007, and contacted me about using it in their magazine. The magazine is available at great bookstores such as Barnes & Noble, and all over the country, so needless to say, I was more than a little excited.

Finally, yesterday, I received my copy of the latest issue and see that, not only is my image used, but it’s the lead photo for their story about the history of the Ketubah (which, by the way, is a fascinating read!). And, not to go too overboard about this, but the image is also used in the table of contents!

Of course I had to take a couple shots of the magazine. Be sure to check it out on the newsstand too!

Congrats karen!!! That is awesome!!!! Great shot!

Kristen and Ben

On June 7, arguably the muggiest day of the year so far, Melissa and I headed to a chalet in the woods of Lancaster to photograph the happy nuptials of Kristen and Ben. Aside from the stickiness, we were blessed with beautiful, soft light for their outdoor wedding and reception and had a fabulous time making some great pictures for them!

Here are a few of my many favorites from their day:

Check out the “I DO” on the wall behind Kristen!

Kristen’s grandma made the garter from the material of her own wedding dress.

Melissa’s unique angle on the musicians.

Such nice, soft light!

Beautiful setting!

A touching moment during Ben’s dance with his mom.

Winding down, this is Kristen’s mom’s putting away the “bridal bells”. Again, another great shot by Melissa.

Can’t go to St. Lucia for honeymoon without a shark attached to your car. That’s where this guy is headed. Or maybe it’s a dolphin. I’m not too up on my inflatable fish.

Uh-oh.

ooooh, blasted!

Congratulations, Kristen and Ben!!
